Who doesn’t love the trash talking between Alec Baldwin, a die-hard Yankees fan and John Krasinski who’s clearly apart of Red Sox Nation? Have a fantastic weekend.

How about starting your Friday with a little bacon, that’s Kevin Bacon. I came across this commercial for Logitech and Google TV and it cracked a smile from me. What is it about Kevin Bacon that’s so … so … I can’t put my finger on it … campy? I think he’s one of those people who embraces his cheesy appeal and plays up his ridiculousness (so does the  Hoff but in a trying a little too hard way). Enjoy your weekend.

Conan had a great first week debut, let’s see if he can repeat it in week two. I really can’t get enough of him right now and waited a week or two but I’ve decided that I had to post his American Express commercial simply because I really like it. American Express always has really great spokespeople in the past Ellen Degeneres, Robert De Niro, M Night Shyamalan, Kate Winslet, Jerry Seinfeld, I’m sure the list can go on.

I came across this ad a couple of weeks ago and thought that it was just too sweet not to put on here. If you haven’t called your dad in a while get out your phone because it will make you want to call him. I doubt that there is not one dad that would not drop everything to come pick you up in a moment of a need. It’s cheesy but just the right amount of cheese making it sweet.

Yesterday I brought you Nike’s big blockbuster commercial for the World Cup so it is only fitting that I bring you adidas’ World Cup spot today. Based on the premise that adidas equipment is lighter therefore faster, the spot features world player of the year Lionel Messi, alongside David Villa and Zinedine Zidane. Both are similar in their hollywood-esque appearance almost looking like movie trailers rather than commercials.

Who’s do you like better Nike or adidas?

Nike is bringing out the big guns in its new World Cup campaign Write the Future. Not only does the commercial feature Drogba, Rooney and Ronaldo but there are also appearances by Roger Federer, Kobe Bryant and Homer Simpson. Only two and half weeks until the World Cup starts and the fever begins. Which players will become the stars of the tournament and carve their name in history?

Nike spared no expense with this commercial it was directed by renowned Hollywood director and producer Alejandro G. Inarritu (21 Grams, Babel).

I know I have already posed the question already but what is it with the marketing folks at beer companies, why do they always get it right? I can not stop laughing at this commercial, the part where she asks to borrow the pen is my favourite.

The follow-up is equally as funny.

I came across ESPN’s World Cup ad and immediately got excited. I know it’s still a month away but I’m buying into the hype. It’s a little unconventional for a sporting event ad because there’s only five seconds of soccer actually featured in it. But I love the message it’s simple, it’s not about the politics it’s about the game. How fitting given who the host nation is.

One of the great things about living in a multicultural city is that there are lots of places you can go to cheer on different nations. Where will you be watching the games and more importantly who will you be cheering for?

Heineken has come out with a new beer commercial that begs you to ask the question who is this ad geared for men, women or both? Clever concept and great execution.

Similar concept to a previous spot equally as funny.

In case you missed it my favourite Heineken Marketing initiative.
